My writing setup looks a little different than I’m used to but it should do. I’m looking forward to starting this writing project, with a direction but few expectations.

Somethings off.
We watched Julie & Julia. It took us three sittings to watch it through. In the movie, Julie works her way through Julia Child’s cookbook in a year. She, Julie, blogs about it along the way, which brings her fame. A movie is eventually made about it.

I must’ve gone on for at least half an hour, if not 45-minutes, while we were driving back from PEI, about whether I should post links to my blog posts on my Instagram Stories. It’s been on my mind for about a week. Every time I ran through an argument, I ended up at the same conclusion: I don’t know.

The 3D printer is awesome. The rabbit turned out pretty nicely. It’s amazing to me that this sort of technology exists. The ideas that I have for what I’d like to print with it keep coming to me in a steady wave. I haven’t written any of them down.
Today, though, something else is on my mind for this blog post: is there a difference between a writer and someone who writes? It came up in a conversation with my girlfriend. I don’t quite remember the context but the question remains an interesting one.

I wonder what it would take to put together a collection of essays. Several years back, I started working on a project I called “A Collection of Recollections”. I’m not when exactly but I just stopped working on it. The binder full of type-written pages is still on my bookshelf but I haven’t opened it in years.

I bought this binder when I was working on Letters’ Lounge, a website I started over 15 years ago. The idea was simple: people write in anonymous letters. I liked the idea a lot. Life got in the way and it never quite panned out. It’s okay, though, because it started me down a journey of discovery.

Ramadan Email | Emails at Work
I started in my current role as the teacher-librarian at our school a couple of years ago. To get information out, I have to send broadcast emails to all of the staff, and I try to make them interesting to read. The email I sent earlier this week has gotten a lot of positive feedback. A few people have told me that reading my emails makes them smile. Hearing this makes me feel good.

I found a typewriter
A lot of waste is produced at school. I’ve been trying to clean up our inventory of computers so I’ve been contributing a lot of e-waste. The other day, I was dropping off some monitors when I saw a typewriter. Of course, I had to take a closer look.

Now that I’m here, I’m planning to buy a membership to Medium so that I can read more of your work (and send a few pennies your way). Somehow, and I haven’t figured out how, this little run has reinvigorated my interest in Medium and the writers on it. I’m looking forward to reading more of your work.

The Final Push — 39 Left
Like others have noted, one of the best parts about asking for and seeking out 100 followers has been finding some gems. There are a lot of people on this platform who are writing interesting content and aren’t getting their fair share of reads.
The response to my request has been incredible. I went from 20 to 61 followers real quick, simply by asking. Thank you.
With the deadline looming, I’m about one-third of the way away from reaching that enforced horizon. Certainly, I would love to reach that mark. Regardless, the support from the community in helping me get there is empowering. Thank you.

At the time of writing, I have 44 followers on Medium. When I asked for help with gaining followers, I didn’t expect much. I have to say that I’m very pleasantly surprised.
