Upcoming: Tales Of and From Mariposa

During the last week, I have been looking for apartments in Toronto. It’s never fun looking for apartments, especially in Toronto. The pictures on the websites often don’t match the actual state of the unit, and the listed prices are, at best, relatively close but still less than what you’re actually going to pay each month.

This is Riel's newest hangout. He chills here for hours, on top of my winter tires.

It’s tough, too, because talking to folks on the phone never really gives you a good idea of what you’re going to be getting yourself into. I find it’s always best to walk into the rental office and ask your questions there. If nothing else, you get to see the community in which the building is located, and, perhaps more importantly, you get an idea of the state the building is in. In order to actually be there, though, I’ve been doing a fair bit of driving.

As you may already know, I do my best thinking when I’m driving or when I’m in the shower. And, on those drives back and forth from Toronto, I’ve been thinking about what I should write about. As you may also already know, I haven’t been blogging much lately. What I’ve come up with is that I should write my own series of tales of and from Mariposa.

So, over the next six weeks, the remainder of my stay here in this town, I’m going to venture to write a number of short tales about the place that I’ve called home for the last year. The tales will be biased, and will focus on only my experiences here. I’ll even try to snap a few photos for y’all.

Well, I best be off. I’ve got a viewing scheduled for a couple of hours from now, and, if I’m going to stop for coffee, I best be on my way.
