We decided to take a road trip a few months ago. Even still, the last twelve hours have been spent running around trying to get things sorted out so that we’re ready to go. Why does it always seem to happen this way?
Tomorrow, we’re heading out east. I’m really looking forward to it, especially after the road trip my dad and I took out east last summer. It’s an incredible part of Canada, and the world, and it’s a bit of a shame that it doesn’t get more love. Actually, that might be a good thing. Touristy spots overrun with tourists are bothersome. It’s much nicer to go somewhere quieter, like it is to sit in an empty bar.
After we get back, we’re heading out west. It’s a bit of a cross-country tour this year. We’ll be flying west, though, so won’t be able to see the sights along the way. I’m hoping that we’ll take some day trips into the mountains and go for a few short hikes when we’re there. It, too, is an amazing part of Canada, but it gets a bit more love.
I’m not sure if I should bring my notebook to continue writing my morning pages. If I do, what pen will I use? The fountain pen I use daily likely won’t hold enough ink. Do I take another pen or just use the ballpoint I carry with me daily?
I haven’t been able to decide on whether to take my computer or not. I plan to edit next week’s video while were out but taking my computer and iPad seems a bit much. I’m thinking that just the iPad will be enough. I do love my computer, though.
I’m not sure if I want to keep up with the daily blogging, either. I’d hate to break the streak but it might be good to take a bit of a break. Or, do I do a bit of a travel journal for while we’re away? That might be all right.
My goals for this trip are to spend time with Hannah and relax a bit together. It’ll be a lot of time together and we’ll be outside of our normal. Travelling with a partner is an important test. I’m not worried. Getting ready has been rather stress free. I’m also looking forward to getting out of the city for a good while. I’m not always sure what keeps me here, other than my job, but it always feels nice to get away from the sounds and smells.
We’ve certainly packed far too much but this preparation is all part of the trip. There’s nothing so important that we might leave behind that we won’t be able to find wherever we end up. As long as we enjoy ourselves, we’ve done well. Whatever happens while we’re away will be what’s best, I figure.
