Failed Again! Joshua Weissman’s Cinnamon Rolls | But Cheaper
I tried making Joshua Weissman’s cinnamon rolls again. They didn’t turn out. Again. I’m going to quit on this recipe and look for another one. I gotta say, I’m a little disappointed.

I Failed at Making Joshua Weissman’s “But Cheaper Cinnamon Rolls”
While watching Joshua Weissman’s video “1 Dollar Giant Cinnamon Rolls | But Cheaper,” I thought it looked easy enough so I decided to give it a go. Turns out, I need to learn a few things before I’ll be able to make cinnamon buns worth eating.

My first attempt at cinnamon buns failed hard
I tried making cinnamon buns tonight. I watched the video by Joshua Weissman that explains how to make them. It looked easy enough. He posted the recipe on his website. Mine did not turn out.

Day 7 – Sourdough Starter
I tried a float test today to see if my sourdough starter is ready. It isn’t. I fed it today and will leave it for a day or two. These daily updates will stop but I will definitely make a video if and when I can make a loaf of sourdough. I’ll make videos about whatever else I try next. Thanks for following along, folks!

Day 6 – Sourdough Starter
That film of liquid is back. It’s called, “hooch,” and it’s not harmful. It’s a sign that the starter is hungry. Today, I fed it with 100 g of flour and 75 g of water, same as yesterday. The time lapse I tried to make over the last day didn’t work because I didn’t leave a light on.

Day 5 – Sourdough Starter
I’m not sure if it’s going well. There was water pooling on top of the mixture today. I stirred it in and then added 100 g of flour and only 75 g of water, as suggested in the comments of yesterday’s video. I’ll let it sit for another day and see how it goes.

Day 2 – Sourdough Starter
I was shocked to see a few bubbles in the starter today. I’m glad to see that it’s working, though. The math is confusing me a bit because it’s looking to me like 100 g is being added on every day. If that’s the case, there’s going to be a lot of starter at the end of this week.

Who hasn’t wanted to make sourdough in the last two years? I thought I’d give it a go. After watching a number of videos and reading a few articles, I decided to just go ahead and see if I can’t get something to work. I’m going to try to track my progress over the next week.
