In this week’s video, I turn a bowl out a Sycamore blank. This project ended up killing my lathe – the motor burnt out. I was at it for a good four hours or so. My lathe isn’t all that big or powerful but I didn’t think I was pushing it too hard. I was sent a replacement motor under warranty so I’ll install that and get back to turning.
As for the bowl, I think it turned out pretty good. It was a lot of fun to turn and I’m looking forward to making more. It has a food-safe finish on it, just in case somebody wants to throw some treats in it.
