There happened to be a plumbing emergency last night and the hot water was shut off. This morning, I spent the first hour-and-a-half of my day boiling water. I had one electric kettle in the bathroom and a stove-top kettle on the stove top.
I almost called in a sick day.
It did put my privilege into some perspective. There are people in the world who regularly have to heat water over an open flame. There are Canadians without running water.
