Just Write

“Dude, just wake up fifteen minutes earlier.”

“I will.”

“Fuck, man. You better wake up. Tomorrow, you can get up earlier and write your Morning Pages. You need that in your life.”

“I’m getting late for work. I just don’t have the time in the mornings.”

“Maybe you should just write Evening Pages instead. You’re not waking up early enough.”

“I’m tired. If I go to sleep early tonight, I’ll be able to wake up and write my Morning Pages. You know what, if I put it on my to-do list, there’s a better chance of it getting done.”

To-Do List:

  • work on Collection of Recollections
  • write Morning Pages
  • write a blog post
  • read for a bit

“Bud, you’ve been meaning to write your Morning Pages for three weeks. Just do it. Go to sleep. Wake up early.”

“But, I have been writing. I’m sure I have been. Almost every day, in fact.”

“Well, you were supposed to have finished at least the rough draft by now, but that isn’t even typed up. Sure, you’ve been doing some journaling, but nothing that amounts to any real writing. Mostly, you’ve just been ranting on paper about the same thing over and over again.”

“No. You were supposed to have written something more significant by now. You haven’t put any effort into your CoR or blog for a while. Why don’t you just write?

“Just write.”
