You know what’s kind of a crazy business idea? Day One – the journal prompt people. I also find the popularity of gratitude journals fascinating. We, as a people, love documenting what we do.
I wonder when self-help took its rise. It’s an interesting concept, self-help, especially in that somebody else is providing you with the guidance necessary for you to achieve what you’d like to. It’s nearly them helping you. The journal prompts feel like an extension of the same.
We need ideas to follow in order to follow our ideas. What makes it crazy is how circular it is.
I find the same to be true of my experience with woodworking. There is a tool for everything. At some point, it stopped being about creating your own from a rudimentary set and about purchasing the precise tool for a very specific job. Admittedly, the tools of today provide an incredible level of precision.
Somehow, though, there’s been a bit of a reversion toward hand tools, similar to the readopting of film in photography. We don’t want to let the past go. Luckily, we have documentation on how to use it all.
When will what we’ve put down on paper no longer be understandable, like the instructions for how to build a pyramid in the desert?
