I’ve had a note on my desk to write something about gumption for about a month now. Oddly, it’s been difficult to sit down and write it. I haven’t felt like it.
The idea is this: there are two things that’ll help you get things done, grit and gumption, but people rarely talk about gumption. It differs slightly from grit.
Grit consists of more persistence. Gumption involves more awareness, a certain know-how, along with determination.
There are times when each is valuable. These days, as we are coming out of a period of extended hibernation, it’s time for us to do more than push through. Gumption is a quality we need to find within ourselves.
What do you think? What character traits help you achieve your goals?
