While it would seem as though I haven’t been very active on the writing front lately, it isn’t entirely true. Yes, I haven’t been publishing posts, but I’ve been writing.
Just over a week ago, I started writing about something that I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about. I decided that I should start writing things out by hand, and then edit and type them up. So, that’s what I did. Trouble is, this piece is taking me much longer to write than I had expected. It’s become obvious that the issue I’m trying to work through while writing about is bigger than I had anticipated.
(Did I ever tell you about the time that I was told to pre-anticipate what guests at a restaurant would like?)
It’s been a good experience, writing the first draft of this piece. I carry it around with me in my satchel, working on it when I’ve got a few minutes during the day. I’ve also been trying to commit some time to it in the evenings since I started it.
One thing I’ve learned is that I really need to plan things out. I’m starting to forget what I’ve already written about and what I would like to write about. I’m not sure if I’m finished this piece yet or not, or how far from the end I might even be. I need to step back and backfill a plan before I continue.
Anyway, because I’m a bit proud, I thought I’d send out a quick update on the status of what I’ve been working on.
Oh, the working title of the piece is, “I’m Not Looking for God”. Heady shit, huh?
