Taking pictures again

One of the good things to come out of 2020 was getting back into photography. During the summer, I even tried vlogging about taking pictures. It was a fun project and something that I’ve been thinking about revisiting.

Last week, I took my camera out for a short walk in the city for the first time since the end of the summer. I don’t know what clicked, but I finally just grabbed my camera, put on my winter coat, and headed out. It felt good to get out once I got over my initial jitters.

Learning how to take pictures in the city is a bit of a challenge. Earlier this year was the first time that I dabbled in street photography. It makes me nervous. Taking pictures with other people around, and especially of people, makes me uneasy. People are what make most photographs interesting, though.

Anyway, I thought that this woman taking a selfie was an interesting scene. The Christmas lights have gone up in Yorkville and there were a lot of people there, many of whom were taking pictures of themselves and each other.
