My First Typewritten Letter

Last night, I sat down at my typewriter to write a letter to my sister. It was really hard. It’s not something I’ve done in a very long time.

I used to love writing letters. I would get a thrill out of it. The idea that someone would receive a note from me that only he/her and I would read was exciting to me. It was also terrifying because once sent, I no longer had access to the letter. I can’t check the sent mail at Canada Post to see if I should send a follow-up note apologising for my drunken rants. There’s even a chance that it won’t reach the addressee.

Last night, I was sober.

It was fun, though. I started imagining what it would be like to exchange letters with someone, which I haven’t done in about 15 years. I started thinking about getting Letters’ Lounge up and running again.

It was also an interesting exercise because I had to think about what I wanted to write before I wrote it. Turning back meant typing new pages. Sure, I lost my way a few times, and there are spelling and grammatical errors.

Who should I write my next letter to?
